Rental camers for Digital Underwater Photography

Olympus Digital Underwater cameraIf you don't already carry underwater cameras, or if you're looking to add a cameras to your rental gear, might I suggest the Olympus 770 SW?

This is nothing against Sealife, Sea & Sea, etc. I just happen to have an Olympus that lends itself surprisingly well to rental gear and wanted to mention it.

I bought the Olympus because I wanted a digital camera that would double as an underwater camera. There's plenty of cameras out there that come with underwater housing, right? Here's why I picked the Olympus:

First off, you can drop the camera from up to five feet without it breaking. This is no hype - I have tested this claim on multiple occasions.

Second, it's good to 33 feet without a housing. You know what this means? If the housing leaks, I haven't fried my camera.

Last, it has all the idiot-proof settings I need: auto stabilization, underwater, underwater macro, and a big fat display screen. Also, you can manually adjust the white balance.

Olympus housing for digital cameraNow here's my disclaimer. I am not a photo pro. My only criteria for a camera is that it's easy to use and hard to break. I found a review of the Olympus 770 SW by someone who seems to know what he's talking about. Here is another 700SW review with sample underwater images.

Olympus now has a webpage devoted to underwater imagery. Visit olympus.com/underwater.

If you're interested in becoming an Olympus dealer, let me know. One of their representatives was at DEMA this year. Alternately - contact the Olympus dealer in your area. They may be interested in a cross-promotion your business.
